Kodiak woman found after being separated from four-wheeling group

The U.S. Coast Guard used a helicopter to find a 26-year-old woman Wednesday morning in Kodiak after she became separated from her group driving four-wheelers the night before, said Alaska State Troopers.

Shortly after midnight, people who had been four-wheeling with Meikayla Wyatt called troopers. They said Wyatt had been missing for three hours, troopers said.

Troopers, Kodiak Island Search and Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard responded and searched the area around the Saltery Cove trail near the American River.

At 9:14 a.m., searchers found Wyatt's four-wheeler mostly submerged in water. At 10:52 a.m., crews in the helicopter spotted Wyatt in a clearing. She was picked up and taken to the Coast Guard's Air Station Kodiak without injuries, troopers said.
