The Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center and Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 375 have teamed up to provide an exceptional opportunity for Alaskans to learn to be pipeline welders. This training, to be held at the Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center’s new Welding Center, is a tuition free eighteen (18) week advanced pipeline welding program.
The pipeline welder training will begin on August 4, 2014 and ends on the first week on December 2014. The deadline for submitting applications for the training is July 15, 2014. Preference will be given to Alaskans who have prior welding and/or construction experience. After completing the eighteen (18) week advance welding course, the Plumbers and Pipefitters will assist graduates with securing employment.
John Plutt, Training Director for the Plumbers and Pipefitting Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee in Fairbanks say of the upcoming training opportunity, “If someone is looking for a good career with good pay and benefits, this is the opportunity for them”.
“Experienced pipeline welders are in demand in Alaska and throughout the Lower 48 and we are pleased to be able to work with the Plumbers and Pipefitters and the Construction Education Foundation to help provide for this training”, said Jim Sampson, Director of the Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center.
The Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center was created in 2008 in order to provide training for jobs in the Alaska oil, gas and construction industry. The Plumbers and Pipefitters have been training Alaskans in the plumbing and pipefitting trade since 1946.
