Hot Picks: Drag Queen Bingo, Renaissance Fair

3 Barons Renaissance Fair

Grab a turkey leg, bust out your best "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" impressions and take in the revelry at the 3 Barons Renaissance Fair. Guests are encouraged to witness the "Game of Steel," as the Barons pit wit and courage against each other. Participate in the Tomato Show or the Circus of the Damned or stroll through the historic village. There's even a Renaissance Run 5-K. Alaska Run for Women

Alaska Run for Women attracts about 7,000 runners annually. Sign up online Friday at akrfw.org or in person from 6:45-8 a.m. Saturday at Mulcahy Stadium, A Street and East 16th Avenue. Download the race map, see a list of registered participants and read the rules online. A suggested donation of $25 is requested.

Drag Queen Bingo

Join Daphne DoAll LaChores and Paige Langit for the Four A's annual fundraiser. All proceeds benefit HIV prevention and education programs. You can join in bingo, door prizes, auctions and of course, the annual Drag Off. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Doors, 6 p.m. Thursday; bingo starts at 7 p.m. All ages welcome. Spenard Jazzfest

Jazz music will waft over Spenard this weekend, starting with a free opening party Friday with performances by The Alex Cruver trio and Monica Lettner at Hugi Lewis Studio, 1008 W. Northern Lights Blvd. Free. The Jam Jar, with sets by the Bleicher/Cruver Trio, takes place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Spenard Farmers Market, 2555 Spenard Road. Free. An "Originals Only" event with local jazz artists is 4-11 p.m. Saturday at Organic Oasis, 2610 Spenard Road. The Melissa Bledsoe Band will perform at The Jazz Brunch, noon-2 p.m. Sunday, Organic Oasis. All ages, $15-$20.

Batter up

It's time to take in some baseball. The Anchorage Bucs and the Glacier Pilots go head to head in the season's opening games at 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday. More games are set for 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. All games are played at Mulcahy Field, A Street and East 16th Avenue. $5-$7; season tickets also available.
