The Alaska Run for Women has surpassed last year’s race in terms of donations, but is still more than 1,000 short of attracting nearly 7,000 participants for the fourth straight year.
Donations for Saturday’s race, a fundraiser for breast cancer charities, surpassed the $165,000 milestone Thursday, hitting $168,210.
Entries are at 5,892.
Last year’s race raised $165,722 and drew 6,940 participants.
Women and girls have until 5 p.m. Friday to register online at akrfw.org for the untimed 1-mile and 5-mile events.
On race day, registration is open for those events and the timed 5-mile run from 6:45-8:15 a.m. Saturday at Mulcahy Stadium. Donations are accepted in lieu of entry fees.
The first race starts at 8:30 at the Sullivan Arena parking lot.
