A 33-year-old Big Lake man reported to be acting strangely and possibly armed was shot by another man on Thursday evening, Alaska State Troopers say.
Troopers received a report at 8:41 p.m. Thursday of a man in the road on Susitna Parkway near Saquonee Street "pointing at people and it was believed that he had a gun," according to an online dispatch posted late Thursday. By the time troopers arrived, a 29-year-old man approached them and told him he had shot the man.
Mat-Su Borough medics took the injured man to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. Troopers say they forwarded the case to the Palmer District Attorney's office for possible charges. Neither man has been identified.
In a separate incident Thursday in Big Lake, a 17-year-old stole a vehicle from the Big Lake Library, troopers say. The teen, whose name was not provided, crashed into a car in the library parking lot and then drove a few miles away and stole $500 of property before abandoning the vehicle on Maplewood Drive.
The teen, who did not have a valid driver's license, was taken to Mat-Su Youth Facility, troopers say.
