Letter: Jenkins’ logic questionable

I am trying to understand (apparently Paul Jenkins knows) how eliminating a progressive tax on a finite resource maximizes the benefit for all Alaskans. Because oil consumption continues to increase (and at some point prices will increase), elimination of a progressive tax will result in more profit for the corporate shareholder. While oil company shareholders will reap a windfall, Alaskans will not benefit as they would have under ACES or any similar structure, which equitably shares the excessive profits.
