A 26-year-old Anchorage man stabbed his roommate multiple times at a Midtown apartment early Tuesday morning, police said.
Demetrius Johnson faces first-degree assault charges in connection with the incident, which occurred on the 2400 block of Fairbanks Street, said Jennifer Castro, Anchorage police spokeswoman.
About 4:04 a.m., a woman called police dispatchers to ask for medical help for a man who was bleeding.
Police and paramedics responded and found a man with "multiple stab wounds to the upper body area and face," Castro said. The man had apparently walked next door after the stabbing to ask for help. His female neighbor called 9-1-1.
The man was taken to the hospital with "severe but non life-threatening injuries," Castro said.
Johnson was the one who let police into the apartment, Castro said. After conducting a preliminary investigation and interviewing witnesses, police arrested Johnson on suspicion of assault.
A motive was not immediately clear.
"There wasn't any kind of exact indication as to why" the stabbing occurred, Castro said.
