Alaska Credit Union League supports students at Alaska Business Week
Alaska Business Week runs July 27- Aug. 2 on the UAF campus
Anchorage, Alaska – The Alaska Credit Union League has provided scholarship funds for Alaska Business Week, giving 16 high school students the opportunity to experience a simulated corporate environment learning business, teambuilding, leadership, and life skills. Starting July 27, students entering grades 9-12 will spend a week on the UAF campus living in dorms, experiencing a college environment, and earning college credit.
“Alaska Business Week is a unique opportunity for high school students to learn the basic principles of private sector business and develop their leadership skills. We’re proud to sponsor the program since 2010,” said Lauren MacVay, Chair of the Alaska Credit Union League.
Throughout the week, students work in teams to complete real-life business challenges through production, marketing and finance competitions. Alaska business professionals serve as advisers, guiding the students toward a winning business strategy. Registration is open to all Alaska high school students.
The Alaska Chamber of Commerce is the program coordinator. For more information about Alaska Business Week, visit www.alaskachamber.com.
