A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with hitting and killing a 56-year-old woman while driving his pickup truck in Healy early Thursday morning, said Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers reported the hit-and-run in an online dispatch after the body of 56-year-old Gitte Stryhn was found in a ditch alongside Coal Street off of Healy Spur Road shortly before 7 a.m. Troopers said she was riding her bicycle and on her way to work.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported that Stryhn worked as a tour bus driver for Kantishna Roadhouse, shuttling tourists from Healy 92 miles down the Denali Highway to the lodge.
A co-worker found Stryhn's body about a block from her workplace.
At 1 p.m., troopers located a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck parked outside of a Healy home with front-end damage that matched debris found at the crash scene. Dustin Dollarhide, the owner of the truck, was taken in for questioning.
Dollarhide faces charges of manslaughter, failure to report an accident and driving under the influence.
