A single-vehicle rollover on the Glenn Highway on Wednesday morning left one dead, one in critical condition and two others with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman Dani Myren.
According to APD, police were notified of the accident near the Eklutna Flats at about 11:27 a.m.
Police temporarily shut down the north- and southbound lanes to make room for a medevac helicopter to land and take the critically injured to an Anchorage hospital.
By 1:22 p.m., only one of the northbound lanes was still closed. Myren was unsure of how long it would be closed, adding that emergency responders would need "wiggle room" for a tow truck to remove the black pickup truck in which the victims had been traveling.
All lanes of the highway were reopened shortly after 4:30 p.m.
Myren said that the cause of the rollover is still under investigation and the names of those involved won't be released until the next of kin have been notified.
