Nikko Saenz ripped a three-run, pinch-hit homer run to spark a big ninth inning that boosted the Pilots past the Chinooks 11-6 in Chugiak.

The game was tied 6-6 after eight innings. Saenz, a junior from St. Marys College in California, delivered with one out in the top of the ninth to break the tie. Chester Pak came through later with an run-scoring single to finish with four RBIs.

In the bottom of the ninth, Chugiak's Steven Pollex and James Nevant singled to put runners on first and second with no outs, but the Pilots turned a double play and retired the next batter to end the game.

Bucs 13, Monarchs 0

The Bucs did all of their damage in two innings in a 13-0 romp over the Monarchs, scoring eight runs in the second inning and five in the seventh at Mulcahy.

They flexed their muscles in the second inning with seven hits, six of them for extra bases. They started the inning with three straight doubles, followed by a triple. The Bucs sent 13 batters to the plate, and Mark Sanchez got hits both times -- an RBI single and an RBI double.

Mark Krueger sparked the seventh-inning outburst with a two-run single.

Four Anchorage pitchers combined to three-hit the Monarchs, including local Johnny Meszaros, who worked 12/3 innings in relief to earn the victory.

Miners 6, Seals 5

Dayne Wunderlich drove in the winning run with a single in the eighth inning, lifting the Miners to a 6-5 win over San Francisco in Palmer.

San Francisco tied the game 5-5 in the top of the eighth on Joe Armstrong's two-out single, but stranded two runners.

Mat-Su responded in the bottom half of the inning with a leadoff double from Josh Meyer. Paul Panaccione went in to run for Meyer, advanced to third base on an error, and scored the go-ahead run on Wunderlich's hit,

San Francisco put the potential tying run on base with a leadoff walk in the ninth, but a double play helped the Miners survive.

Oilers 2, Waves 0

The Oilers scored the game's only runs in the first inning to edge Oceanside 2-0 in Kenai.

Jimmy Nesselt struck out six and yielded three hits in six innings for the win. The Oilers outhit the Waves 6-3.

Peninsula put three of its first four batters on base in the first inning, loading the bases for Alex Rubanowitz's RBI single and Josh Rose's RBI walk.
