UAA men's basketball team adds another recruit

The UAA men's basketball team added a 6-foot-4 guard to its roster, head coach Rusty Osborne announced Tuesday.

Derrick Fain is transferring from an NAIA program at The Master's College in California for his final season. In his junior season, Fain averaged a team-high 12.2 points per game and shot 38 percent from beyond the arc and 86 percent on free throws.

The Dallas, Texas, native racked up 30 points in a victory over the Seawolves in an exhibition game last season.

"He is an elite shooter and dynamic scorer with the ability to drive the ball also," Osborne said in a new release. "Defensively, his size and length will help us match up much better against the bigger wings in our conference."

Fain is the fifth player in UAA's recruiting class, along with junior college transfer Dom Hunter (Tacoma, Washington), and incoming freshmen Sjur Berg (Nesoddtangen, Norway), Damien Fulp (Palmer) and Brian Pearson (Elko, Nev.).
