Anchorage Opera has hired Reed Smith as its new executive director. A press release from the company received Monday said Smith will assume his duties Aug. 1.
Smith resigned as general director of Tri-Cities Opera Company in Binghamton, N.Y., in February. He has been associated with that organization for more than three decades as a singer and company manager.
Smith replaces Kevin Patterson, who has held the top position at Anchorage Opera for two years. Patterson has said he is leaving to be with family in Indiana.
