Anchorage's Lauren Murphy signed a contract last week that will make her the first woman from Alaska to fight in an Ultimate Fighting Championship bout.
Murphy is scheduled to fight Aug. 16 in Bangor, Maine, according to Alaska Fighting Championship owner Sarah Lorimer. Her opponent is Sara McMann.
Murphy is 8-0 and is the Invicta bantamweight champion, a title she won by TKO in December.
McMann is 7-1 and is riding a seven-fight winning streak. She is 2-0 in UFC fights.
Murphy will be the seventh Alaska to fight in the UFC.
