More than 600 bicyclists will hit the highway Saturday for the 11th annual Fireweed 400 bike race.
A variety of distances are being offered, with all races beginning at Sheep Mountain Lodge on the Glenn Highway.
The 400-mile race, in which 43 people are entered, goes from Sheep Mountain to Valdez and back.
The most popular event is the 200-miler, which ends in Valdez. Other races are 50 and 100 miles long. In addition, there’s a two-day, two-person 300-kilometer ride that starts at Sheep Mountain, heads east to Glennallen and then goes south to the finish at Tonsina Lodge.
Riders can pick up their race packets Thursday at the BP Energy Center (900 E. Benson Blvd) from noon to 2 p.m.or from 5:30-7 p.m.
