Dream pop duo Beach House coming to Bear Tooth

Dream-pop duo Beach House will play Bear Tooth Sept. 18. Anchorage is the first stop on the band's "Northern Exposure Tour" through Alaska and Canada.

Beach House is comprised of Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand and based in Baltimore, Maryland. They broke out with a self-titled debut album in 2006, followed by "Devotion" in 2008 and "Teen Dream" in 2010. Beach House's critically acclaimed fourth album "Bloom" is available from Sub Pop Records.

In a review of 2012's "Bloom" for Pitchfork magazine, music writer Lindsay Zoladz remarked that Beach House "started by making incense-smelling, curtains-drawn bedroom pop. Now, eight years later, they make luminous, sky-sized songs that conjure some alternate universe where Cocteau Twins have headlined every stadium on Atlantis."

According to the tour announcement, Beach House "has always wanted to tour in the 'The Last Frontier' and the 'True North' on previous tours, but until now scheduling has proven too great an obstacle. They're very excited to finally play live in intimate settings throughout these previously unexplored Alaskan and Canadian provinces."

After the Anchorage show, Beach House will continue on to 14 tour dates in Canada, from Vancouver B.C. to Nova Scotia.

Tickets will be $28 and go on sale Friday, July 18, at the Bear Tooth.
