Motorcyclist killed in Hillside crash

A 31-year-old Anchorage man was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Hillside early Thursday morning, police said.

Someone called police at 2:21 a.m. to report that they heard the crash and found a motorcyclist who had gone off the roadway and down an embankment near Glen Alps Road, Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Castro wrote in a statement.

Paramedics responded and declared the motorcyclist, identified as Nicholas Byers, dead at the scene, Castro said.

Byers was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Castro said.

She said the cause of the crash is under investigation, and no further details were immediately available.
