Nome woman fast with fish at WEIO

Nome's Marjorie Tahbone showed off her versatility during the first three days of the World Eskimo Indian Olympics in Fairbanks.

Tahbone won three events that test vastly different skills. She topped the 5-kilometer Race of the Torch footrace, she kept her balance long enough to claim victory in the greased pole walk and she set a world record in the fish cutting contest. Tahbone filleted her fish in 30.58 seconds.

Two others set records prior to Saturday's final day of competition -- Matthew Sido Evans (241 feet, 8 inches in the four-man carry) and Bernard Clark (7 feet in the one-hand reach).

Anchorage's Autumn Ridley won four events through Friday – the Alaskan high kick, the one-hand reach, the blanket toss and the two-foot high kick.
