Aces pivot Morrison is Newfoundland-bound

Alaska Aces veteran center Jordan Morrison, a linchpin in the ECHL club's drive to the third Kelly Cup in franchise history, will play the upcoming season in the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League, according to eliteprospects.com

The reliable website reports Morrison will play for the Gander Flyers.

The Aces midway through last season signed Morrison and Brett Findlay after their ECHL club, the San Francisco Bulls, folded.

Morrison came to Anchorage in search of a championship, and he got one.

In 31 regular-season games, Morrison logged 6-14--20 totals and a +5 rating. He massively elevated his game in the postseason, racking 9-5--14 and +9 totals in 21 games, killing penalties excellently, blocking shots, logging big minutes and scoring critical goals. He was a contender for postseason MVP, an honor that went to Aces first-line center Nick Mazzolini, who led the playoffs in points.

Morrison is the second Aces veteran pivot headed elsewhere. Third-line center Tyler Mosienko will play next season for the Sheffield Steelers in the Great Britain-based EIHL.
