Wine of the Week: 2013 Biutiful Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina

The 2013 Biutiful Malbec is rich and robust. Its creator, owner-winemaker Alfredo Merlo, crafts his family's 30-year-old malbec vineyard into something very special. As Alfredo states on his label, natural beauty needs no makeup, hence this wine is un-oaked. Rich and coating on the palate, the plush black fruits deliver a long-lasting taste sensation. It borders on the rich and unctuous but is not over-ripe. This is a superior malbec experience that one can serve with pride. Costs about $20.
