William Arnold’s 4-over par 76 Sunday was good enough to earn him the men’s championship in the Alaska State Senior Amateur golf tournament at Chena Bend in Fairbanks.
Arnold’s three-round total of 227, 11-over, gave him a three-shot advantage over Peter Hakes, who shot 74 Sunday to finish at 230.
Susie Mcleod easily won the women’s title, carding an 81 Sunday and finishing at 240, 16 strokes ahead of Teresa Fisher.
Cable Starlings blistered a 72 Sunday to give him a 241 and a two-shot edge on Robert Kimball for the men’s title in the first flight. Cathy Garrick’s 94 on Sunday gave her a total of 274 and a one-shot victory over Deb Mitchell in the women’s second flight.
Adam Baxter claimed the Mid-Am title with a 75 Sunday that gave him a 226 total.
