C.J. Severyn, we hardly knew you; check that -- we never did

Ah, C.J. Severyn, we hardly knew you.

Um, actually, we never did.

According to the Alaska Aces' Twitter account, the reigning ECHL champs have traded the rights to Severyn, a forward, to the Fort Wayne KometsĀ for future considerations.

And so we've come full circle, given that the Aces acquired Severyn's ECHL rights as "futures'' -- that's what they call it in the biz -- from last year's trade of center Zach Harrison to the Orlando Solar Bears.

The way this generally works is Fort Wayne will at some point give the Aces a list of a few players from which to choose one player as the "futures'' is will get in return for Severyn's rights.

When that will happen is anyone's guess. Aces coach Rob Murray held onto the "futures'' he acquired for Harrison until nine months later, when he acquired the rights to Severyn.

For what's it worth, Severyn last season for Orlando put up 11-23--34 totals in 43 games and played six games in the AHL.
