Prep volleyball: Wednesday's results

South 3, Eagle River 0

Defending state champion South opened the volleyball season Wednesday with a sweep of Cook Inlet Conference foe Eagle River.

Kayla Sims served eight aces and handed out 19 assists, and Aspen Avery came up with 22 digs in South's 25-8, 25-4, 25-11 victory.

At the net, Shelby Little registered seven kills and two blocks and Claire Lacey tallied three kills and three blocks.

Dimond 3, Bartlett 0

Jenna Hickel's 10 digs and five aces were part of a balanced effort that led Dimond past Bartlett 25-13, 25-6, 25-23 Wednesday.

Brynn Sulte had a team-high six kills and three others contributed five apiece -- Cali Clark, Rohyn Huss and Chrisalyn Johnson. Allie McDonnell served five aces to go with 14 assists.

Bartlett was led by outside hitter Savanna Sahora.

Chugiak 3, West 0

Anna Ingraham's 25 assists fueled Chugiak's victory in a tightly contested, season-opening match Wednesday against West.

The Mustangs triumphed 25-18, 25-20, 25-20 behind seven kills from Emily Moorhead and six apiece from Rachel Gregg and Sinjin Acuna.

Ashton Jessee's five blocks and six kills led West, which also got four kills and eight digs from Hana Lance and 10 assists and five aces from Rosie Rush.
