Harrison deal plays out for Aces: Rookie winger Wolfe is the end-game

A year after the Alaska Aces granted center Zach Harrison's trade request, they finally got something in return: The ECHL rights to rookie winger Greg Wolfe, who last season captained Michigan State and led the Spartans in goals and points.

To recap -- the Aces in September 2013 traded Harrison to Orlando for future considerations; coach Rob Murray held onto those "futures'' until June, when league rules mandated the trade must be completed; Orlando shipped the Aces the rights to center C.J. Severyn; the Aces in August shipped Severyn's rights to Fort Wayne; and today Fort Wayne traded Wolfe's rights to the Aces.

Wolfe, 24, last season earned 13-18--31 totals and an even rating in 36 games with Michigan State. He finished tied for fifth in the Big Ten in conference scoring with 5-14--19 totals in 20 games.

Michigan State was offensively challenged -- its average of 2.19 goals per game ranked 54th among 59 Division I teams. Wolfe was involved in 39.2 percent of Michigan State's goals. We most assuredly are not saying he's the next Peter Sivak, but just for comparison's sake, note that Sivak last regular season led the Aces with 83 points in 67 games and the Aces scored 238 goals in those 67 games, so he was involved in 34.9 percent of Aces goals in games he played. Fun with numbers!

Wolfe's Alaska connection at Michigan State? He played with forward Tanner Sorenson of Anchorage.
