Flag football: West gets first win; Service, East triumph

West 26, Eagle River 7

West earned its first flag football victory of the season Saturday, stopping Eagle River 26-7 in a Cook Inlet Conference game at Anchorage Football Stadium.

Abby Fisher caught three touchdown passes for the Eagles (1-6), two from Lauren Syrup and one from Eileen Tanono. Syrup completed 10 of 11 passes for 132 yards and Tanono was five of 15 with two interceptions for 65 yards.

Victoria Jacobs and Sarah Peters led the Eagles defense with seven pulls apiece. Jacobs added 47 yards offensively on six carries.

Eagle River's only points came late in the game on a long touchdown pass.

Service 35, Chugiak 0

Julia Miknich tossed four touchdown passes and rushed for a fifth Saturday to lead Service past Chugiak 35-0 in a CIC game at Service.

Miknich connected with Kerianne Hansen for two touchdown and found Haleigh Van Allen and Zoe Bailey for one each.

Keaira Caldarera intercepted a pass to spark the defense for Service (6-1).

East 13, South 12

Sierra Rosenzweig caught a third-quarter touchdown pass to lead East to a narrow 13-12 CIC flag football win Saturday at Anchorage Football Stadium.

Jasmine Richard also had an interception return for a touchdown for the T-birds.

Callie Orizotti scored both touchdowns for the Wolverines.
