Aces sign 2 forwards, making it 12 announced signings

Look, we have no idea if Shane Heffernan, a forward the Alaska Aces today announced they have signed, can cut it in the ECHL. But you gotta like his chances at having the most interesting passport in training camp.

Heffernan, a Canadian who turns 27 later this month, in the last four seasons has played in Norway, the U.S., Germany, Latvia, Slovakia, Belarus and Sweden. Man, play hockey, see the world. Heffernan once played for the Tonsberg Vikings in Norway -- that's the same club that once employed Aces winger Ross Ring-Jarvi.

Of course, according to eliteprospects.com, he has only played 51 games in the last three seasons.

The Aces also announced they have signed rookie forward Justin Breton, 25, out of Bentley University. He went 6-10--16 in 35 games as a senior last season and 27-38--65 in 140 career games.

Look for more on the signings later today at adn.com/sports and in Friday's edition of the dead-trees publication.
