South, West undefeated in Spiketacular volleyball tourney

South and West were the only teams to avoid defeat during Friday's pool play in the 21-team West Spiketacular volleyball tournament.

Both teams finished with 8-0 records to earn the top seeds when bracket competitions begins at 9 a.m. Saturday with matches at both West High and Romig Middle School.

Pool play determined which of three brackets teams will play in Saturday. South and West are in the top bracket, the gold bracket. Championship matches for all three brackets -- gold, silver, bronze -- are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at West.

After falling into a 1-0 hole, the East volleyball team rallied for a 17-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-11 win over Juneau on Thursday night at East High.

Taylor Noga had 10 kills and seven digs for the T-birds, who also got seven kills and nine digs from Taria Page and 16 digs from Praise Fagafaga.
