Notes (Crabb, Gomez, Roy, etc)

Just a quick drive-by to get out a few notes: First, right wing Joey Crabb of Anchorage has been sent to AHL San Antonio, where he spent most of last season, by NHL Florida.

But the Panthers are still on the hook for Crabb's NHL salary -- $600,000 this season -- because he is in the second year of a two-year, one-way contract.

In other news, veteran center and two-time Stanley Cup winner Scott Gomez of Anchorage, back with NHL New Jersey on a tryout, scored two power-play goals for the Devils in an exhibition game Sunday. But Gomez is dealing with a wrist injury, according to this story. (Stick salute to akhockey.com for the heads-up).

Today, the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads announced they have signed goaltender Olivier Roy, who helped the Alaska Aces to the Kelly Cup last June. Roy split playoff starts with the now-retired Gerald Coleman before a groin injury in Game 1 of the Finals shelved him.

Lastly, former Aces winger Chris Bruton is on a tryout with AHL Grand Rapids.
