Here's how some Alaska-connected dudes are faring in Europe (Mazz, Clark, etc.)

Every now and then a player pops into our head, or we see something online that reminds us of a certain player, and we decide to take a couple spins through the Internet to see what's what.

Had one of those moments today, so check out former Alaska Aces captain Nick Mazzolini, who is playing this season for Lowen Frankfurt in the DEL2, the second-level league in Germany. Turns out he had 3-2--5 totals in two games over the weekend and owns 8-6--14 totals in 12 games, which ties him for 14th on the circuit in points and ties him for third in goals. He's tied for first in power-play goals (4) and second in short-handed goals (1). Mazzolini has scored at least a point in 7 of 12 games, with five multiple-point games in that span.

Other former Aces in the DEL2 include forward Alex Leavitt, who owns 6-7--13 totals in 12 games and defenseman T.J. Fast, who owns 2-4--6 totals in 12 games.

In the big league in Germany, the DEL, former UAA winger Kevin Clark is killing it. He's first on the circuit in goals and tied for third in points with 11-5--16 totals in 11 games with the Hamburg Freezers. Also on that circuit is former UAF winger Kyle Greentree (3-8--11 in 11) and Dan Hacker of Wasilla (7-3--10 in 12).

Hey, in the Swiss league, former UAA skater Eric Walsky of Anchorage is off to a fine start with 5-4--9 totals in 11 games.

Meanwhile, in Norway, former UAF and Aces center Dion Knelsen is tied for first in goals and third in points with 10-8--18 totals in 12 games. Former Aces forwards Josh Soares (8-7--15 in 12) and Dan Kissel (5-9--14 in 12) are off to good starts too.
