Anchorage police seek carjacking suspect

Anchorage police are seeking a young woman who allegedly stole a truck after threatening its driver with a gun early Tuesday.

The carjacking occurred in South Anchorage, police said.

The victim told police she'd been trying to find a parking spot at an apartment complex on the 1700 block of Lore Road at 12:30 a.m. She was approached by a woman carrying a handgun, police said.

"At gunpoint, the suspect demanded the victim get out of her truck; the suspect then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, leaving the victim unharmed," police said.

The vehicle is described as a light gray 2001 GMC extended-cab truck with the license plate DZZ204. The truck also has a pink "907" sticker on the rear window and another sticker that says "Alaska Pride" on the tailgate. There's a large dent in the middle of the passenger side.

Police described the carjacker as a white woman in her 20s, about 5 feet tall. No description of her clothing was given.

Anyone with information about the identity of the thief or the location of the stolen vehicle is asked to call Anchorage police at 786-8900.
