Prep riflery: Wins for Dimond, Service, Bartlett, East

Service 7, South 0

Sparked by perfect prone shooting from Logan Hanscom and Jaques Tipkin, the Service riflery team grabbed a 7-0 win over South in Cook Inlet Conference action Friday at Service.

The Cougars needed the perfect scores to turn back South in the A team competition -- Service won that part of the meet by a single point.

Hanscom's 284 total led all shooters, while Dakota Walker's 281 led South.

Ethan Schmidt's match-high 287 and William Wood's perfect score in prone shooting powered Bartlett to a 4-3 win over Eagle River in a CIC riflery meet Friday in Eagle River.

Schmidt and Wood, whose score of 100 in prone shooting helped him to a 285 total, led the Golden Bears to a narrow, six-point victory in A team competition. Bartlett also won the B team competition but was buried in C team competition, where the Golden Bears had just two shooters instead of the normal four.

Jacob Nall topped Eagle River with the meet's second best score, a 286 that included a match-high 94 in the standing position.

Five shooters scored 280 or higher Friday in Dimond's 7-0 riflery win over host West.

Leading the way for the Lynx were Morgan Byrne and Julie Duclos, who both fired 288. Brendon LaPorte and Seth Franklin both shot 281 and Andrew Hugeback posted a 280.

Erin Brayfield's 277 led the Eagles.

Chugiak's Emily Vannortwick shot a 286 to lead all shooters. The next best score was Rachel Morgan's 271 for East, which won the B team and C team competitions.
