Anchorage man charged with sexually abusing young boy and girl

Anchorage police have arrested a 26-year-old local man on multiple charges of sexual abuse of a minor.

The Anchorage Police Department's Crimes Against Children Unit started its investigation of Timothy Lineer after receiving a report he had inappropriately touched a young girl, police reported in a release Tuesday.

After the investigation, police said they found Lineer had sexually abused two victims, a 5-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy.

Lineer faces six counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, four counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of "unlawful exploitation of a minor" and two counts of possessing child pornography.

A person is charged with unlawful exploitation of a minor if they're accused of creating child pornography, said CACU Sgt. Cindi Stanton. The children Lineer is accused of abusing are depicted in those materials, she said.

Detectives believe Lineer may have additional victims, and anyone with information is asked to contact the CACU detectives at 907-786-2668.

"We believe that there may be other victims because, according to the national average, by the time one victim finally comes forward the (suspect) has had at least 107 previous victims," Stanton said, adding that Lineer already has two accusers so there may be more.

Lineer made an initial court appearance on Friday at the Anchorage Correctional Complex courtroom, according to court records, and Magistrate Judge Jennifer Henderson set bail at $50,000 cash corporate and $25,000 cash performance.
