Battle of Alaska, junior style: Ice Dogs hammer Brown Bears

Beatdown in Alaska's NAHL rivalry Friday night -- the Fairbanks Ice Dogs hammered the visiting Kenai River Brown Bears, 9-1, bagging three goals in each period.

That's eight straight wins for the defending league champs, who received two goals each from Yannick Vedel and Jacob Hetz, three helpers from Adam Kleven and 27 saves from Patrick Munson.

It was not a Friendship Series -- 92 penalty minutes combined. Hey, 9-1, bound to be some hurt feelings.

Fairbanks owns a 2-1 lead in the season series, which wraps Saturday night in Fairbanks. And, no worries, plenty of opportunity for payback down the line -- the teams only square off 16 times this season.
