McSharry, Swayman spark South boys hockey win

Payton McSharry scored two goals and Jeremy Swayman turned back 14 shots Tuesday night to lead the South boys to a 4-0 Cook Inlet Conference hockey victory over Chugiak.

Max Osborne and Tanner Dragomir also scored for the Wolverines at Ben Boeke Arena, and Daniel Widmar and Bryson Schmitz each furnished two assists.

Jack Straub made 41 saves for the Mustangs.

Eagle River 6, Palmer 4

Eagle River scored five first-period goals, including Anthony Fan's strike just seven seconds in, on the way to a 6-4 nonconference boys hockey victory over Palmer on Tuesday night.

The Wolves, who scored four of those first-period goals in a span of less than three minutes, received two goals from Jesse Johnson at Ben Boeke Arena.

Palmer's Darren Fish bagged two goals and a helper.

Chugiak-E.R. wins girls opener

Freshman Hannah Lowery scored two third-period goals Tuesday to spark Chugiak-Eagle River to a 5-2 win over Service-East in Tuesday's opener of the girls hockey school hockey season at Dempsey Anderson Arena.

A.J. Phillips, Kirsten Watts and Sophie Comer also scored for Chugiak-Eagle River, and Arika Mercer stopped 34 shots.
