Prep hockey: Eagle River buries Bartlett, South gets past Palmer

Eagle River 11, Bartlett 1

Kyle Johnson racked up two goals and two assists in the first period Thursday to power Eagle River past Bartlett 11-1 in a Cook Inlet Conference hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena.

The Wolves led 5-0 after the first period.

Johnson finished with four goals, Michael Maddox added two and goalie Trent Burnham stopped 13 shots for Eagle River.

Kyle Sun scored a third-period goal for Bartlett, which forfeited a game last week due to a lack of players. The Golden Bears dressed seven skaters, including goaltender Dimitri Tribuh, who stopped 24 shots.

South 4, Palmer 2

South got a pair of goals from Payton McSharry to earn a 4-2 nonconference hockey win over Palmer on Thursday night at Ben Boeke.

Jeremy Swayman stopped 25 shots to earn the win for the Wolverines, who also got goals from Jens Juliussen and Noah Ashley.

South went up 4-0 on Ashley's goal early in the third period before Palmer cut the lead on tallies by Taylor Foster and Darren Fish – who assisted on each other's goals.
