Eagle River man charged in roommate's stabbing

Anchorage police say a man has been charged with assault for stabbing his roommate at their Eagle River residence.

Hugh Jeffrey Perry, 41, faces charges of first- and fourth-degree assault and driving with a suspended license, police said.

On Thursday at 7:40 p.m., Anchorage police got a report of a stabbing in the yard of a residence on the 12000 block of Copper Mountain Drive in Eagle River.

Officers responded and found a male victim with "multiple stab wounds," according to a news release. "Police were told the suspect had fled the residence in a green SUV."

The stabbing victim was taken to a local hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

A preliminary investigation found that Perry stabbed the victim and fled to Mat-Su in a green Ford Explorer.

Alaska State Troopers assisted Anchorage police in locating the alleged assailant in Palmer. Troopers arrested Perry, who was handed over at the Anchorage Police Department and then taken to the city's jail, police said.
