Around the rinks: College, junior, pro

Let's do a quick tour of the rinks, starting with Penn State winger Casey Bailey of Anchorage, who racked two goals in a 4-1 win at UMass-Lowell to give him 10-4--14 totals in 11 games.

Bailey is +6 and does not need to be encouraged to shoot the puck -- he leads the Nittany Lions with 60 shots in those 11 games.

Meanwhile, winger Brad Schierhorn of Anchorage had one goal and one helper to spark Dartmouth's 6-0 win over Brown. Schierhorn owns 3-3--6 totals and a +4 rating in six games.

In the NAHL, Kenai River beat the visiting Minnesota Magicians 3-2, and our man Tyler Andrews of Anchorage, the Brown Bears defenseman, figured in all the goals with a power-play strike and two helpers.

The Fairanks Ice Dogs, who had their 10-game winning streak snapped Friday, fell 2-1 in a shootout to visiting Wenatchee. Fairbanks Ethan Somoza and Wenatchee's David Powlowski traded first-period goals, then it was all goalies -- Zach Quinn stopped 30 shots in regulation and OT, and all four Fairbanks shooters in the skills contest (Wenatchee won it 2-0), and Fairbanks Patrick Munson stopped 36 shots in regulation and OT.

Finally, in the ECHL, it was the Bakersfield Condors' Seinfeld Jersey Night at Rabobank Arena in California, where former Aces winger Alex Belizile racked the game winner for Idaho in a 2-1 OT win. Bakersfield players wore sweaters with name plates of Seinfield characters, so its lone goal was scored by Puddy (Sebastien Sylvestre), with assists from Seinfield (Jim McKenzie) and Keith Hernandez (Josh Currie). The Whiz (Ty Rimmer) made 25 saves for the Condors.
