Woman rescued from Muldoon mobile home fire dies

Update, Nov. 19, 2014: A woman rescued from a Muldoon mobile home fire early Tuesday morning died in the hospital Wednesday, according to the Anchorage Fire Department.

A neighbor called 911 around 12:30 a.m. to report the flames and said a person was trapped in the mobile home's rear bedroom. Another person, the woman's daughter, smelled the smoke and was able to escape, said Al Tamagni, fire department spokesperson.

Firefighters entered the mobile home through a bedroom window and found the woman trapped in a bathroom that was connected to the bedroom. She was taken to the hospital where she later died, Tamagni said.

Tamagni said the department was not identifying the woman Wednesday afternoon, nor would he detail her cause of death.

Investigation determined that the fire started in the mobile home's living room, near an entertainment center, Tamagni said. But the cause of the fire remains unknown and under investigation, he said. Foul play is not suspected.
