Cougar comeback propels WSU to fourth place Shootout finish

DaVonte Lacey scored eight of his game-high 31 points as Washington State rallied for an 89-84 comeback victory over Missouri State in the fourth place game of the Great Alaska Shootout at the Alaska Airlines Center on Saturday.

The Cougars were down by 13 points early in the second half before closing on a 39-26 run to force overtime.

Lacey's 31 points were a tournament high.

Ike Iroegbu added 14 points and six rebounds for Washington State, which also got 11 points and seven assists from Ny Redding.

Dorian Williams had 13 points, eight assists and six boards for Missouri State, which got 19 points from Camy Boone and 18 from both Loomis Gerring and Marcus Marshall.

Marshall put Missouri State (3-3) up 74-71 with 1:52 in regulation, but Washington State answered with a trey from Que Johnson with less than 30 seconds to play to tie the game. Missouri State had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Dorrian Williams' lay-up just before the buzzer rimmed out, and a tip by Boone at the buzzer came up short.

Lacey hit his only shot in overtime and went 6 of 6 from the free throw line to ice the win for the Cougars (3-3).
