Anchorage hockey teams host visitors from Fairbanks

North Pole 2, East 1

North Pole's James Laszloffy scored with 15 seconds left in regulation to lift the Patriots to a 2-1 nonconference hockey win over East on Thursday at Ben Boeke.

Brandon Groesbeck assisted on Lazloffy's winning goal.

East led 1-0 heading into the third period on the strength of Tarini Tosi's goal scored with 12:25 left in the first period off a pass from Marshall Walsh. The goal stood up until Dylan Latham evened things up with a tally at the 6-minute mark, paving the way for Laszloffy's game-winner.

North Pole peppered East goalie Lane Fox with 20 shots in the final period. Fox finished with 32 saves. MacCoy Walker made 16 stops for the Patriots.

Eagle River 4, Lathrop 1

Kyle Johnson had a pair of goals for Eagle River, which also got scores from Connor Canterbury and Ben Rinckey in its 4-1 nonconference win over Lathrop on Thursday at Ben Boeke.

Schuyler Davis, Michael Maddox, Logan Rachow, Sutton McDonald and Josh Linn had assists for the Wolves.

Eagle River goalie Jason Johnson made 10 saves.

Emelia Helms-Leslie made 23 stops for the Malemutes, whose goal was scored by Joshua Clifton on a third-period power play.

West Valley 8, Chugiak 5

Gabe Rankin had a hat trick to lead West Valley to an 8-5 nonconference hockey win over Chugiak on Thursday at Ben Boeke.

West Valley led 7-1 heading into the third period before the Mustangs scored four times in the final 13:37.

Zachary Krajnik scored a pair of goals for Chugiak, which also got scores from Daneil Casey, Rhys Cottle and Chase Bear.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Service-East 4, Chugiak-Eagle River 0

Madison Millar scored two goals, Madeline Millar had a goal and two assists and Vandalyn Hudson made 16 saves to lead Service-East to a 4-0 CIC girls hockey win over Chugiak-Eagle River on Thursday at Sullivan Arena.

Sophie Bethke also had a goal for East, which got assists from Kerianne Hansen and Stella Olnes.

Arika Mercer made 21 saves for Chugiak-Eagle River.
