A Buckland man was being held after school officials said he threatened to come to the school Wednesday morning, and shoot children who bullied his daughter, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Northwest Arctic Borough School District officials at the district's school in Buckland, a community of about 400 southeast of Kotzebue, reported that 34-year-old Fred Armstrong called the school at about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to complain that his daughter was being bullied, an online trooper dispatch said. "After being assured the school would investigate the situation, Armstrong stated he was ready to come to the school with a gun and shoot the kids who bullied his daughter," troopers reported.
The Buckland School went into lockdown while troopers and the Buckland village police officer arrested Armstrong at his home.
Armstrong, who was on supervised probation for an alcohol smuggling conviction, was taken to Kotzebue Regional Jail and held pending arraignment. He was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening and violating his probation.
