100 cellphone towers coming to Alaska Highway in 2015

Traveling the Alaska Highway will be a slightly different experience by the end of 2015, if everything goes according to schedule. That's the date by which the Dawson Creek, B.C.-based North Peace Communications hope to have finished installing about 100 cellphone towers along the length of the highway's Canadian portions, reports CBC News.

"We've done Whitehorse," says Rick Panoulias, a service manager with the company told CBC. "And then throughout 2015, we should be covering all the way on the Alaska Highway from about Fort St. John right through to Alaska."

The Vancouver-based RuralCom will operate the towers as the carrier, CBC reports.
