Police warn of burglaries in Bethel

BETHEL -- Police here on Tuesday warned residents of a rise in burglaries over the past few days but provided few details.

"The crimes are similar in nature and typically seem to target victims who are not present at the time. We have not ruled out the possibility of a single person or group being responsible," police said in a written statement.

Police said they are withholding details "so the integrity of the investigation is not compromised." They urged residents and business owners to use appropriate security measures and to notify police of anything suspicious.

Bethel police Cpl. Amy Davis is investigating the case. Police asked anyone with leads to call her at 907-543-3781 or call 907-543-STOP (7867).
