Troopers: Barrow couple charged with Fairbanks murder

Alaska State Troopers reported Wednesday evening that a Barrow couple has been charged with second-degree murder for a deadly assault at a hotel in Fairbanks.

Shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday, troopers got a report of a disturbance at the Extended Stay Hotel on Old Airport Road. They responded and found 37-year-old Wesley Lord, of Fairbanks, dead in a room.

Lord's injuries were consistent with blunt-force trauma, according to an online trooper dispatch.

An investigation revealed Abraham Stine, 39, of Barrow, assaulted Lord while Stine's girlfriend, Dominique Vasquez, 31 and also of Barrow, "tried to cover Lord's mouth so his voice could not be heard," according to the dispatch.

Lord's body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, troopers said.

Stine and Vasquez were arrested and taken to Fairbanks Correctional Complex on the murder charge. The investigation is ongoing, troopers said.
