UPDATED Notes: Archambault season debut in AHL; Schierhorn alert; Boardman, Hetz news

As this is typed, erstwhile Alaska Aces rookie winger Olivier Archambault is making his season debut in the AHL, skating for the Iowa Wild, who summoned him this week.

Archambault, the Aces' leading scorer -- and, yes, they will miss him in Colorado in the opener of a three-game series there against the Eagles on Wednesday night -- is playing in a home game against the Chicago Wolves. We'll update this later. (UPDATE: Archambault, no points, -1, one shot, one penalty -- goaltender interference -- in Iowa's 3-0 loss)

Oh, almost forgot. This is Archambault's season debut in the A, but not his debut. He played 10 games for AHL Hamilton in the 2012-13 season, with one goal and one helper.

Spoke with Aces coach Rob Murray today. He said he'll move Bryan Cameron into Archambault's spot at right wing on Greg Wolfe's line, which also includes Raphael Bussieres. The Chris Francis line, with Brendan Connolly and Ryan Walters remains. The third line and spare forward will be center Tim Coffman, and wingers Justin Breton, Tyler Currier and Jacob Doty.

Also in the mix tonight is goaltender Eric Schierhorn of Anchorage, who is playing for Team East in the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game tonight in Dubuque, Iowa. Schierhorn, who plays for the Muskegon Lumberjacks (13-6-2, 2.41, .927, 2 shutouts), didn't start, so reckon he'll get in net for the final 30 minutes or so of regulation. We'll update this later too. (UPDATE: Schierhorn stopped 18 of 22 shots in 27:47 of playing time in his side's 7-4 win)

Lastly, Mackenzie Boardman of Anchorage tore it up for the Holy Cross women's team in a pair of Division III games over the weekend, bagging two goals and three helpers in two wins at the Rutland Herald Invitational to earn ECAC East Women's Co-Player of the Week honors. Boardman, listed as a defenseman, played center and generated two goals, two assists, five shots on goal and a +2 rating in a 7-2 win over Manhattanville. Then she had an assist, three shots and a +1 rating in a 3-2 win against Stevenson.

In 13 games, Boardman owns 3-5--8 totals and a +8 rating that is tied for second on her team.

Lastly, Fairbanks Ice Dogs forward Jacob Hetz, who with 21-19--40 totals in 37 games is second among NAHL goal scorers and tied for fourth on the circuit in points, has committed to play his college hockey at Ferris State (Michigan) of the WCHA.
