Prep hockey: CIC triumphs for West, Dimond

West 7, Chugiak 2

Dawson Ellingsworth scored a natural hat trick Friday to spark West's 7-2 Cook Inlet Conference win over Chugiak at the McDonald Center.

West already owned a 2-0 lead when Ellingsworth scored his first goal, a power-play strike in the first period.

He scored two more times in a two-minute span early in the second period, once on the power play and once short-handed.

Also contributing goals for the Eagles were Michael Curran and Mac Fair, who supplied the game's first two goals, and Codie Cope and James Batman, who scored the last two goals. Curran added four assists and Ellingsworth had two.

Sam Hanson and Andrew Beckett scored second-period goals for Chugiak, whose two goaltenders combined for 25 saves. Christopher Alexalis stopped 22 shots for the Eagles.
