Heavyweights come through in wrestling wins for East, Chugiak

The heavyweights came through for East and Chugiak on Wednesday, helping both teams to Cook Inlet Conference dual-meet wrestling wins.

East won the three heaviest weight classes in a 40-36 win over Bartlett, and Chugiak won the six heaviest weight classes in a 40-35 win over Eagle River.

In East's win, pins by 195-pounder Andrew Gold and 285-pounder Keanu King sandwiched a Bartlett forfeit at 220 pounds.

East's other wins on the mat came from Aric Kennedy, who scored a major decision at 138 pounds and Alex Kennedy, who had a pin at 145 pounds. The T-birds won three matches by forfeit.

Bartlett's winners were Kodi-Alan Stephens at 120 pounds, Kyle Madrid at 132, Jordan Pace at 152, Hunter Myers at 160 and Jared Braudis at 170.

In Chugiak's victory, the Mustangs got first-round pins from Dawson Budke at 160, Jesse Nelson at 220 and Blake Johnston at 285. Chugiak also got a forfeit at 182 and victories from Riley Demboski (113), Brandeon Nevells (138) and Joshua Edwards (170).

Alecsander Wolfert (98) and Grant Barkhurst (120) earned pins for Eagle River, which also got a decision from Michael Prado at 152 and a technical fall from Marcus Amico at 145.
