Delta adds year-round Juneau, Fairbanks flights

JUNEAU -- Delta Air Lines will extend year-round service from both Juneau and Fairbanks to Seattle.

KTOO reports Delta will also add summer flights from Seattle to Ketchikan and Sitka, and those routes will be evaluated at the end of the summer.

The new Juneau-to-Seattle service will start in May, and comes after airline officials say it received a good response to seasonal flights between the cities last summer.

Delta will operate a Boeing 737 with a seating capacity of 160 in the summer. For the rest of the year, Delta plans to contract with SkyWest, which will fly a 76-seat Bombardier CRJ-900 on the flight.

Delta's has added the Alaska routes as the airline expands its operations in Seattle to connect travelers to other American hub cities and international destinations.
