Police ID man shot to death early Thursday in East Anchorage

Anchorage police have identified the man shot and killed early Thursday morning in East Anchorage as 20-year-old Jeanpal Borge.

Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to multiple calls reporting shots fired and found a man with a gunshot wound dead in the parking lot of a business near Bragaw Street and San Jeronimo Court.

At 9:30 a.m., yellow police tape, a white crime scene bus, a trail of numbered yellow cones and a handful of emergency responders and investigators remained in the Jiffy Lube parking lot with the body of the man police say had been murdered.

Few details were immediately available. During a Thursday afternoon press conference, APD Chief Mark Mew said the case is still "young" and, like three other homicides this week, is drug-related, although it doesn't appear to be connected to another crime.

Sunday night, an 18-year-old man was shot and killed in the city's first homicide of 2015. A 14-year-old boy is in custody in that shooting.

Then, early Tuesday morning, a couple was shot to death at an apartment complex in East Anchorage. Police continue to search for suspects in that case.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 907-786-8900.
