Troopers: Wasilla traffic stop turns up $67,000 worth of meth

A 30-year-old Wasilla man faces multiple charges after he was stopped for a traffic violation and found to be in possession of $67,000 worth of methamphetamine, Alaska State Troopers said.

According to an online trooper dispatch, Johnnylee Burk was found with 467 grams, or just over one pound of the drug, when he was pulled over at about 1:55 a.m. Thursday morning. Beruk was arrested by the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit-MatSu, with help from the Palmer Patrol, and taken to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was being held on $100,000 bail.

Burk was charged with charged with one count of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and four counts of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, as well as violating conditions of his release. He was out on bail on for a single November drug charge, court records show.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Thursday.
